This works fairly well.... it does make it easier then mixing in a wheelbarrel. I've mixed 9 bags of cement... the method that works best... add 1/2 the water then 1/2 the cement, roll it 2 or 3 times and then add the rest. I was using 80lbs bags with cement tint and it was just not working too well for me doing it all at one time.

Con:... maybe? The opening was a little too small for my shovel.

How to use the Odjob mixer

I have used the Odjob mixer for many years. It works very well within limits.

1.What it mixes: a standard 60lb sack of concrete. Do not use an 80lb sack or you will have problems.

2.Do not use the water recommendations on the concrete sack; use the amount of water that is recommended by Odjob, which is 3 quarts for a 60lb sack. This makes for a wetter mix but the concrete won't mix properly in Odjob with less water. A drier mix does make stronger concrete. If this is an issue for you then Odjob is not for you.

3. The picture shows a guy rolling Odjob with his foot. Never worked for me. You need to bend down and put your back into rolling it. Try rolling Odjob on 10" wide wood planks, this makes it easier to roll.

4. You can pour right out of Odjob onto your work but not all the concrete will come out. The easiest is to use your hand to get the rest out. Check carefully around the mixing vanes. I use plastic coated knit gloves th at I buy at the dollar store for this job. This kind of work will quickly make your bare hands sore.

5. You need to wash Odjob assiduously between mixing each sack for it to work well. Sand and cement gets stuck in all kinds of places so use care. Be especially careful to clean the screw top threads so the top won't stick the next time you try to unscrew it. YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE GASKET CAREFULLY OR IT WILL LEAK. Sand can damage the gasket. Remove the gasket from the top and clean it. Carefully clean the groove that retains the gasket.

6. If you have to mix more than a few sacks, buy or rent a motorized concrete mixer. This is for small jobs only.

I love Odjob because it is simple, effective and easy to store away.

mixer works great

This mixer is awesome!! Even though everyone says it mixes up to a 60 pound bag of cement, the lid gives instructions for a 80 pound bag as well. Which is good because the cement pathway form requires an 80 pound bag.
It really is as simple as they say. Put it in and roll it around a min or two and done! I would think a 60 pound bag would be an optimun mix, but the 80 still does work. Then i hosed it all off and ready to go again.
I love this product for someone who does not want to work all day mixing cement.
