Product Description

SDX HID Xenon Headlight Conversion Kit

HID lights have a glass chamber of gas, replacing the filament of traditional halogen bulbs. The gas is ignited by a 23,000v charge and stays illuminated by a constant 12v source provided by a ballast which is connected directly to your battery.

Remarkably, HID lights are able to provide greater light output with much less power consumption. Studies show that a 35w HID lamp produces 3 times as much light than a 55w halogen bulb. Also, a halogen bulb uses a continuous power draw of 10-15 amps, while the HID system uses 20 amps for ignition, but then drops to a mere 3 amps during operation (i.e. up to 80% less power during use!).

In addition, the HID headlamp provides longer service life. With no filament to vibrate and fatigue, under normal conditions HID bulbs last roughly 10 times longer than halogen bulbs.

What is HID Color Temperature?

Color temperature is a characteristic of light that is sometimes mistaken as brightness, when it is more closely related to "cool" and "warm" tones of light. Color temperature is a measure in Degrees Kelvin of the hue of a light source, in this case the HID bulb. (The term color temperature actually refers to the color associated with the amount of heat needed to produce that color from an ideal black body.)

It is hard to describe HID colors accurately since many variables such as voltage, type of ballast and the environment can affect color output. Also, color perception is subjective. That said, here is a rough guide to Color Temperatures for HID bulbs:

  • 3000K = Yellow
  • 4300K = Bright white yellow tinge
  • 5000K = Pure white
  • 6000K = Bright white (some detect slight blue)
  • 8000K = White with blue tinge
  • 10000K = Light blue
  • 12000K = Blue
  • 15000K = Darker Blue (may appear violet)
  • 20000K = Blue indigo
  • 30000K = Indigo

22001 Ford F150 HD headlights
By Francisco
These HIDs are easy to install really just plug-n-play. I wanted them for my 2001 SuperCrew I did mine in about 15 minutes. The lights looked great and were bright white but only lasted for about 20 minutes, well while i was aiming them down towards the ground. I then turned them off and tried to turn them back on to see if they would turn on and off properly. The passenger side did not work, repeated this a few times maybe 20x and it maybe turned on like 4x. The next morning i tried to turn them on and neither worked, later that night i tried it again and the drivers side bagan to work normaly but the passenger side remained the same. I checked the connections and they all seemed ok until i saw that the passengers side had a problem, the red and black wires that go into the HID bulb were burned and the red wire was disconnected from the housing... long story short i expected more from SDK they probably use low quality wiring, everything else seems to be made of decent ma terial. I would not recommend them unless they contact me and send me a pair that works properly and isnt damaged.

1no bright, already burnt out...DO NOT BUY
By golfadict
I gave a 1 star because there isn't a ZERO star.

i would not consider these HID. they are more like just white halogens, but not as bright. these are dimmer than my factory halogen headlight bulbs. and one already burned out. yes i've installed many HID's in all my cars and did not touch the bulb and wore gloves. instructions are worthless. and these definitely DO NOT work if you have daytime running lights, which you will not read in description.

Update:
first bulb burnt out two weeks after install. second bulb burned out a week later. entire kit is crap, and seller is crap. DO NOT BUY.

1Waste of money !!!!!!! Worst pile of crap I've ever purchased !!!!!! DO NOT BUY !!!!!!!
By Glen VanNorman
This is the biggest pile of crap HID kit I've ever bought. Install was very simple because I have installed about half a dozen other kits before. This kit LOOKS like it could be pretty good quality, and that's about all the quality it has is looks and zero function. I installed this kit on a 1999 Silverado truck in about 20 minutes. Immediatley after install everything was working great just the way it supposed to. 5 hours later when it was dark I went out to go for a test drive and see how the light pattern was and if any aiming was needed, only one of the lights comes on now. Spent another 15 minutes out in the driveway checking connections and voltage where it needed to be and everything is good to go on the truck side of things. Have not taken the time to diagnose the problem down to ballast or bulb because I was too cold and pissed off at this point. The manufacturer of this product WILL be hearing from me in the morning and I promise you I will NEVER buy or suggest anyone to buy anything made by this company again.
