5Great cheap rack
By Danbob
Okay,

Let me just preface this by saying that I love bikes and all things bike related. I have owned at least five or six bike racks. This is the best rack you can buy under 80 bucks. Maybe even under 150. I love it and I have owned all things Thule and saris. This is perfect for carrying my road or mountain bike on the back of my car or my wife's car in a pinch. I use my Thule platform rack for longer trips, but for just going out on the mountain or road early in the morning, quality is perfect. Super tight fit on the car and has minimal contact with the bicycle and the paint of the car. Folds into something about the size off shoebox and stows in the trunk in seconds. I would not buy the two bike one because the bikes would surely bang into each other. Great product though. Just use a bungee cord to keep the bike from banging into the rack when in use. Make sure to secure wheels with the extra strap length. LOVE this rack! Don't worry about expens ive bicycles either. They will be fine. My bikes are two grand a piece and I trust this rack.

4Does the job but quality could be better
By John C. Kendall
I'm using it on my miata. Love the size and easy on/off with only three straps. It is working beautifully. I have been using it 3 to 4 times a week to go 8 miles to the local trails. The bad news is that the clips are plastic. One of them has already broken in half after just a few weeks. Luckily, the strap can be threaded through the white part and it seems to hold. They really should make the clips metal.

5Love this rack!
By NoNonsense
I'm so happy with this rack! I had been using a two-bike, folding rack made by Bell that was much larger and much more cumbersome (it was the typical style of 'folding' trunk rack that you see in most stores and elsewhere on Amazon). The Allen rack really does fold down into nothing, so you can keep it in the trunk at all times. But the real advantage is how easy it is to install. It uses the same system of straps and hooks as most other trunk racks, but because it's so small and so light, it's much less cumbersome and thus easier to maneuver into place. When I drive somewhere for a ride, I don't hesitate to take the rack off and toss it into the trunk while I'm out riding (just to prevent it being stolen). Even when it's not folded up, it's still small enough to fit into the trunk. And it's so simple and fast to install, when I'm back from my ride I can usually pop it back on in less than a minute. The clamps that hold the bike are nicely padded with ribbed, rubber ma terial. The nylon straps that fasten down over the top tube of the bike use simple plastic buckles, and at first I was disappointed that they didn't have some sort of quick-release mechanism. But after using the Allen a few times, the truth is that the buckles are almost as fast as a clip would be, and they feel much more secure. Depending on your vehicle, the bottom strap may have some slack left over, which I use to wrap around the lower part of the bike, keeping it from swaying (if there isn't enough slack, a bungee cord would work). This isn't essential, but for longer drives it's nice to have the bike totally immobilized. I've got a Cannondale Six carbon road bike, and this rack works fine with the slightly odd shape of my carbon top tube. Whenever I feel like strapping my bike to the back of my hatchback, now I don't hesitate, where before it was a chore. Highly recommend.
